Bounce, bounce, bounce!

Last week we went over to some friends house to celebrate with their little girl her 6th birthday! She was give the best present of all... a bounce house! This thing was amazing and I so wished I was 6 again and could have gotten in it and had so much fun. Milo immediately wanted in so we took his shoes off and off he climbed. I don't think I have seen him more happy. He ran around that little house and tried to jump. Milo jumping means he just stomps his feet but it is so cute! I for once was not stressed out watching him have fun. If he fell he wasn't going to hit concrete or a wall or some other object that would seriously hurt him. So mommy stepped back and watched her little boy play...

Sea World!!!

We were blessed to have some friends who were able to get us 50% off season passes to Sea World! We have gone around 6 times since we got them in March. Milo absolutely loves to see the fishes and the whales. While Mike goes and rides the Manta or Kraken, Milo and I go to the aquarium to look at and try to touch all the beautiful fish. Milo loves to explore new things and finds everything fasinating! There is a show where they use rescued dogs and cats and train them to do tricks during the show. Milo absolutely loves the show. He claps even when he is not supposed to and looks around so proud that he is a big boy now! We took Milo to go see Shamu and he stood the entire time dancing to the music and saying wow!!! There is a kids section where they have slides and kiddie rides. Milo went on his first carosel ride. He fussed while he had to wait for it to start but loved it once it finally started moving. A Month of Firsts

What a month and we still have another week to go! It seems like it has been a month of firsts for us here at the Doherty's. To start it off, Milo cut his firsth tooth! Much to my happiness, that little white beauty popped up for all the world to see. We suffered through fussy days and sleepless nights to welcome that first luminescent tooth. The only bummer is, it is a little camera shy and every time I try to capture it, it disappears under a cute toungy smile.

Next, we decided to start this family blog. It has been a great outlet for me to write what is on my mind and take a little me time. Within the last week, Milo's second tooth has started to make its apperance. This second one is so much easier than the first. I was almost suprised to see this new addition as the sleepless nights and constant fussiness has not been filling our days. Although the constant chewing is now upon us again. Everything and anything goes straight to the mouth.

Today, Milo suprised us! He has been up on all fours for weeks doing the rocking routine and today the official crawling has begun. He still enjoys doing his famous army crawl but today the belly was up off the floor! As he was showing off his new found freedom, he crawled over to his Grammy and proceeded to pull himself up the ottoman that was in front of her. Our life as we know it has officially changed!!!

A Day to Remember

Today would have been Mike's parent's 37th wedding anniversary. Even though Dick is no longer with us, we went out and celebrated a wonderful joining of two incredible people. We had dinner at Isaacs, so Cheryl could get a lobster (with real butter), and a walk on the waterfront.

I am so thankful for the family life and upbringing that Cheryl and Dick gave Mike. He would not be the man and father he is today, if it were not for his parents. As I watched Mike with Milo tonight, I dreamt of what type of grandfather Dick would have been. The love, laughs, and smiles the two of them would have shared. The longing of seeing those moments has brough tears to my eyes as I write this. I so longed for him to be wih us as we ate and to laugh at his grandson trying to smash a whole dinner roll into his tiny mouth. To share a meal with his wife, put his arm around her in a tender embrace, and whisper the words "I love you".

It is true what they say, that a love can last a life time. I see that in Cheryl everytime we talk about Dick and their life together. What an amazing marriage and what an amazing day 37 years ago!

Precious Moments

This morning as I walked into the living room Milo was playing with his Grammy. Once he saw me, he turned and smiled. How can one little smile become so precious that the whole world stops? His eyes sparkle and for that moment I know I am the most important person in his life. What a responsibility it is being a parent. It has become the most overwhelming, challenging, and rewarding experience of my life.
